YOGA FOR CANCER

"Do not try to save the whole world or do anything grandiose.Instead, create a clearing in the dense forest
of your life and wait there patiently, until the song that is your life falls into your own cupped hands and you recognize and greet it. Only then will you know how to give yourself to this world so worthy of rescue."

 - Martha Postlewaite

Yoga for Cancer is a dedicated class for anyone impacted by cancer. This safe and supportive space, at The Yoga Space London (Woolwoch), will be focused on restorative practices that will support students though out their cancer journey. Laura’s own personal experience with cancer started in 2019 where she was diagnosed with tongue cancer, involving a full head and neck dissection, removal of lymph nodes, tongue reconstruction followed by an extensive period of physical and speech therapy. She is now in recovery and wants to support others impacted by this disease. Laura’s experience with cancer is one of the key factors in why she trained to became a yoga teacher.

She found yoga was an integral part of her life both before and during her treatment and was the space where she could “sit with” what was happening both in the mind and body, move through physical and mental discomfort and explore breathwork tools and meditation techniques to support her during the chaos of appointments, scans and treatment. Yoga became the space to dive deep into the present amongst the unknowns and to support her well being whilst not being well.

Whether you have had a recent diagnosis, are in treatment, recovery or remission, this practice will encourage you to dive deep into meditation, breath work and mindful movement working with props and support to suit each students individual needs.

Each class will be a space for students to come as they are, to practice compassion and empathy towards how they are feeling on that day and to focus on breathing, moving as well as rest and despair.

Students are welcome to come alone or with a carer or family member. This class is a donation based from £8 - £16 per class. If money is a barrier please contact us directly and we can support you in anyway.
